That foundation right there was the start of a turret tower, as soon as I decided to build it that happened. If you start to build too close to the side of the settlement though, you do have things like this happen. You also want to move your fast travel point in close, because by default it's outside the settlement right next to the encounter area. There is a random encounter spawn near the bridge by Starlight, but if you build only near the center close to the water, they don't bother you. The OP isn't talking about scripted settlement attacks. That had never happened on any of my other characters. On my current playthrough, all my settlements were getting attacked so often I had to install a mod to turn the attacks off, because I couldn't do anything else. I've had 5 playthroughs now, with similar defensive setups, and each time the attack pattern is completely different. I'd have to agree about the attack rate being a bit arbitrary. oh no more attacks from level 43-54 as I finally started working through the main plot. Paradoxally safe Sanctuary: Back to 330 turrets, with 220 water and 30 food. Sanctuary, reduced down to 1 water purifier and barely enough defense to handle that. Also, multiple radscorpions spawned alongside newly arriving settlers WTF. Sanctuary, build 330 defense worth of turrets for 200 water and 20 food: Nonstop constant attacks ever 45 minutes. Sanctuary up to lv 40: just the named NPCs and zilch defenses. Safe abernathy farms: I reduced them to ONE turret, and single didgit food. Even though I planted extra food on top of the default.Ībernathy farms: Constantly attacked no matter how many defenses I added. Greygardens: Never built any defenses ever. Attack frequency is so arbitrary that anybody's experiences are "legit" experiences. I only have one turret, and only ever see raiders and never more than 3. Originally posted by Selfish Lee Everett:I've wondered about the raised cliffs, but never been attacked from there so I put my generators at the bottom of those cliffs. Oh, you can tell the way Im playing that my character really doesnt like Shaun because I always seem to forget about getting to him. Ive done the Castle and Boathouse before so want something new, but something that doesnt get clobbered all the time. Starting over with mid level Sanctuary for water and crops, Red Rocket for companions, and maybe Ill develop Greygarden or Hangmans Alley since I havent done that yet. On paper an attractive site, but not so hot if you want to ignore it. Then, super mutants from the high cliffs shooting into walls right after. It romped in and wrecked turrets and killed 2 settlers. Then a day or so later, a deathclaw fighting a dog. While building turrets, here comes a Yua Gai. Out front near original gates is a random encounter spawn point. Gets attacked from the raised cliffs in the back. I built walls around main area and jammed in 2 water purifiers. Started new runthrough and developed Starlight instead of Sanctuary this time because I had heard good things.
